Belonging to Sealaska and being enrolled at the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) does not mean you are automatically enrolled with CCTHITA. The Council enrolls people only of Tlingit and/or Haida descent, while the BIA and Sealaska have Alaska Natives from many different tribes (Aleuts, Eskimo, Athabascan and others) on their membership lists.
If you did not receive an ID card and are not sure of your enrollment status, please write to the CCTHITA and include your full name, any other names you may have used, your Social Security number and your birth date. Call 907.586.1432 or the toll-free number 800.344.1432, or write to:
Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska Attn: Tribal Enrollment 320 W. Willoughby Ave., Suite 300 Juneau, AK 99801 www.ccthita.org
If you are not enrolled, an application packet will be sent to you. Complete the necessary forms and sign and date the application. Completed applications must be presented to the Enrollment Committee, which meets twice a year to review and certify applications.
ID cards have been sent to everyone for whom the CCTHITA has current addresses. You may need to contact them to ensure that your address is current.
