Richard Rinehart is one-half Tlingit and one-eighth Haida. Raised in Wrangell, he is Raven, Kiks.ádi, and belongs to the Sun House. His Native name is Du aani Kax Naalei meaning “far from home,” which was given to him after living in Oregon for more than 20 years.
Prior to becoming Sealaska’s CFO in 2007, Richard served as the corporate controller for more than four years. Richard also served as CFO for Hooker Creek, an Oregon-based construction company. He is also the grand treasurer for
the Alaska Native Brotherhood and is a board member of Native American Bank.
Richard holds bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in business administration from Portland State
University, and is a certified management accountant and financial
manager.
