Mitchell Brooks worked at Sealaska Environmental Services (SES) this summer. Brooks enjoyed his internship at SES, as it provided him with valuable working experience in his career field.
“Everyone at SES has been very helpful in teaching me how SES conducts their work. It has been very beneficial to see how the reporting and corporate side of things work out in the office and then going out in the field and doing the hands-on part of the job in order to get a full picture of how SES operates and conducts business.”
This summer, Brooks worked on a number of projects, including working with SES environmental technicians and project managers conducting groundwater sampling/monitoring, and assisting with writing a five-year review of groundwater projects conducted on Whidbey Island in Washington state.
Brooks was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. He is the son of Dawn Cranston and Michael Brooks. His grandparents are Daisy and Jud Cranston. Brooks is a Raven Coho of Dry Bay.
Currently working on his first year in the master’s degree program at Central Washington University, Brooks intends to receive his degree in resource management. Following graduation, Brooks plans to look for a job in the environmental/resource management field in Washington state or Alaska.
