Sealaska is proud to be able to donate logs for totem poles and other cultural projects.
In August 2005, Sealaska donated seven 2,000-pound cedar logs to the Klawock Totem Pole Park as part of a 21 log reproduciton project. Master Carver John Rowan and apprentices took on the task of carving all 21 poles.
Sealaska will only accept a log donation application with documented proof that the U.S. Forest Service and local village or urban corporations were approached for a log first.
Please note: Sealaska will transport the log from the forest to a log sort yard, generally on Prince of Wales Island. It is the responsibility of applicants to transport the log to the carving site and to the final display or use site at their own expense.
