Ká = man ; naak = stand. The word expresses the uniting of companies, standing together for the benefit of our customers. Kánaak Corporation embodies principles developed over millennia and speaks to trade and commerce for which the Tlingit have always been known.

Our Name: The Legend of Kánaak Legend tells of a Tlingit clan leader who entered a bay as salmon began to group. The salmon began to come out of the water in a frenzy, appearing as if they were standing on their tails together in the cove. “Kánaak!” said the leader. “Just as our people stand together, so do the salmon.” Sealaska and Nypro, Inc. stand together to provide diversity supply solutions in the plastics industry through Nypro Kánaak.
