Jennifer Hanlon

jennifer.jpgA two-time intern, Jennifer Hanlon worked for Sealaska Environmental Services (SES) this summer. Hanlon chose to return to SES because she had a great experience in the prior year.

“I interned with Sealaska last summer and enjoyed the people I worked with. SES really tailored my internship to suit my academic goals and I wanted to take that opportunity again. It’s been great so far. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with some of SES’s legal counsel and while working on my project, I’ve gotten familiar with reading, interpreting and writing legal documents - years before I’ll step foot inside a law school seminar.” Hanlon also worked on reading, organizing and creating templates.

Hanlon grew up in Yakutat, Alaska. She is the daughter of Eli and Inga Hanlon, Jr. Her paternal grandparents are Eli and Jennie Hanlon and her maternal grandparents are Hans and Martha Totland. Hanlon is Tlingit of the Teikweidi Clan. Her Tlingit name is Aandeiyeen.

Hanlon attends the Clark University in Worcester, Mass. She is finishing up her last year, working towards a Bachelor of Arts in global environmental studies. Following graduation, she plans to go to law school and get her Juris Doctorate in environmental law. She also hopes to volunteer abroad, possibly with the Peace Corps. “I plan on going into environmental law to protect the health and well-being of people from exploitation and environmental pollutants.”
