Environmental Policy

Sealaska Corporation has a unique perspective that ties the lands, the resources and the environment to our very existence as a unique people and Corporation. Not only must we conform to standards developed by federal and state governments, we also must meet the expectations set by our culture and our ancestry.

Alaska Natives value land as the ultimate provider for its peoples. Sealaska’s lands represent our inheritance from our forbearers and our legacy to our descendants, and must be safeguarded and nurtured to support all future generations. Native culture also recognizes that the water and wildlife resources occupying its lands must be wisely developed to support Native peoples. As custodian of these resources, Sealaska will utilize them to generate economic benefit to the Corporation and shareholders, and also concern itself with how this usage affects the environment and our stewardship responsibility. As Sealaska develops our resources, we remain mindful of our stewardship commitment by striving to balance environmental protection, cultural integrity and profitability.
