About Supplier Diversity
Supplier diversity is the purchasing of goods and services from a variety of businesses, including those owned by people of color, women and people with disabilities.

U.S. companies are increasingly turning to minority-owned businesses to supply goods and services. These firms understand that both their work force and supplier base must reflect consumer demographics. Additionally, companies that do business with the federal government must meet government-mandated supplier diversity requirements for subcontracting to small and minority-owned businesses.

In 2006, the nation’s largest companies are expected to spend over $80 billion of their procurement budgets with companies owned by women and people of color.

Sealaska Corporation—Financial Strength, Competitive Advantage
As an ANCSA Corporation, Sealaska is a federally-designated minority business enterprise. This statutory authority provides “diversity supply” status for all wholly and majority-owned Sealaska subsidiaries, joint ventures and partnerships.

A core focus of Sealaska’s strategic plan is to seek out competitive and business advantages in order to grow revenues and create shareholder value. Strengthening our sales, marketing and business development activities in the area of supplier diversity is an integral aspect of that strategic plan.

The centuries-old cultural heritage of Sealaska’s shareholders, combined with the technical skills and high-quality products and services provided by Sealaska’s subsidiaries, brings added value to current and prospective customers.

Customer Relationship Management
Recognizing that good supplier diversity management is all about relationships, Sealaska has created the Office of Diversity Solutions. Shareholder employees serve as marketing specialists, develop relationships with corporate and government customers, and educate buyers on the unique status of ANCSA Corporations.

The Office of Diversity Solutions supports corporate business development initiatives to make deep and lasting inroads into emerging markets in various industry sectors. As the marketplace continues to become more global and diverse, the Office of Diversity Solutions will assist Sealaska businesses in broadening their customer base and increasing sales to both commercial and government buyers.

Sealaska's wholly and majority-owned subsidiaries—Alaska Coastal Aggregates, Sealaska Timber Corporation, Sealaska Environmental Services, Synergy Systems, Managed Business Solutions, Olympic Fabrication, Kingston Environmental Services and Kánaak Corporation—are all diversity supply providers.
