Tsimshian Totem Pole Unveiled at National Museum of the American
Sealaska and Sealaska Heritage Institute help celebrate the dedication of a 22-foot totem pole carved by Tsimshian carver David Boxley. The totem tells the story of “The Eagle and the Young Chief.” It was unveiled on January 14, 2012 at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian.
From the artist’s website: "Artists from long ago inspire new generations of Indians to carry on the traditions of which they began. I am determined and dedicated to become the finest artist that I can be while at the same time helping to revitalize and carry on the rich culture of my tribe: I want my sons and other young Indian people to be proud of their heritage."
