Sealaska COO Appointed to Obama Administration’s Manufacturing Council

SamLandol.jpgThe Office of the Secretary of Commerce announced today that Sealaska Chief Operating Officer, Sam Landol has been appointed to serve on the Obama administration’s Manufacturing Council. The announcement was made by U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Michigan and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke at a press conference in Washington, D.C.

The Council is the premier national advisory committee on manufacturing. Mr. Landol’s extensive experience will be important in providing the Council and the Obama administration with advice and counsel on issues and concerns that affect the manufacturing sector. The 24-member council will identify and recommend ways for the U.S. government to respond to challenges facing U.S. manufacturers and to help them increase their competitiveness both at home and abroad, according to Locke. “A vibrant manufacturing sector isn't just critical for the millions of Americans whose jobs depend on it,” he said. “Manufacturing is absolutely central to driving the innovation that fuels the American economy."

“Sealaska’s manufacturing operations continue to grow and provide valuable jobs in communities like Dothan, Alabama and Mt. Pleasant, Iowa,” said Sealaska President and CEO Chris E. McNeil, Jr. “The strength and profitability of our operations are a direct result of Sam’s leadership and I couldn’t be more proud that he will contribute his expertise to both Sealaska and the United States manufacturing family.”

“I am deeply pleased and honored to have been appointed to the Council,” said Landol. “Domestic manufacturing will play a vital role in rebuilding the nation’s economy and I am looking forward to contributing to the Council’s important work.”

Mr. Landol has served as Sealaska’s chief operating officer since February 2007. He previously served as president for European operations for Nypro, Inc. and president of Nypro Latin America. He earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Pratt Institute and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He resides in Bellevue, Washington.
