Home > For Shareholders > Additional Resources > Other Helpful Sites > First Youth Board Advisor Announced at Annual Meeting Sealaska Corporation’s Board of Directors has established a youth board advisory position. “Haa Shagoon is one of the guiding Native values for Sealaska’s board and management which recognizes the bonds between our ancestors, current generation and future generations,” said Dr. Rosita Worl, Sealaska board vice chair. “The Board recognizes the newest generation of shareholders has much to contribute and participants will certainly develop leadership skills throughout the experience.” The board appointed position is for one year and new youth board advisors will be announced at each annual meeting. The first appointee was announced during the 2009 Annual Meeting on June 27 in Sitka. After careful consideration the board elected Megan Gregory, whose family is from Kake, to serve in the inaugural position. As youth advisor, Ms. Gregory will provide input and gain board membership training. Ms. Gregory graduated from Kake High School in 2005. In the summer of 2005 she interned in Washington DC with Senator Lisa Murkowski’s office. That experience allowed her to shadow Senator Murkowski while presiding on the senate floor. Megan is currently attending the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska with a major in business and minor in political science. She is currently working at the Sealaska Heritage Institute as a project assistant. Most recently Megan volunteered with Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. She has also volunteered as a field and business coordinator for the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Corporation also known as SEARHC. Click here to learn more about the application process.
